Special School for the Visually and Mentally Challenged

To provide special education to the especially able children who are not capable of having formal education in normal schools, we started the special school for visually and mentally challenged children with only 18 students with effect from May 2, 1998. Initially, the project was financed by local contributions. Gradually, the initiative gathered momentum and a landmark reached on February 1, 2001 when the school got recognition of the Mass Educations Extension Department of the Government of West Bengal. During the same year, VLN got itself registered under the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995. The school got sponsorship on 01.12.2005 from the Deptt. of Mass Education Extension, Govt. of West Bengal. Though there is sanction for 89 students, we have 115 students in total
